ABOUT US

Fluxco Design is an award-winning product innovation studio located in Nashville, Tennessee. Specializing in handmade furniture and lighting, we use a mix of materials to create a unique product offering to our customers. We service both residential and commercial spaces while offering both custom design solutions and furniture from our product line, the Profile Series.

Quality and craftsmanship are always at the forefront of our work. Fluxco Design adheres to industrial design principles of function first: ensuring that each piece is built to quality and usability standards that will withstand time. But make no mistake; cosmetics are not sacrificed; rather, our goal is to build products that appeal to our customer’s aesthetics while making them enjoyable to use.

Our custom design services allow us to work with clients to craft bespoke products that are unique to their very own space. Pulling inspiration from the location, we work to find a harmony between the materials and shapes of the environment where the piece(s) will live with those used in the final product we create.

Using a mix of complementary materials, the Profile furniture line is a built-to-order offering conceived out of a desire to create a family of products that adhere to our own design principles and styling. Creating this furniture line we wanted to allow both access and repeatability of our products to a wider range of consumers. Materials pull from a mix of both natural and manmade using everything from hardwoods, cotton, and leather, to composite, steel, and brass. While we have a set of recommended materials to choose from, customization of these pieces is always an option and encouraged.

The feature piece that inspired the Profile Line is our LZ Lounge Chair seriesa winner of The Good Design Award — the oldest and most prestigious Global Awards for Design Excellence and Innovation. This awards program was founded in 1950 by the former MoMA curator Edgar Kaufmann, Jr., along with pioneers in modern design Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, and Eero Saarinen.

Fluxco Design was founded in 2012 by Zachary Calev in Los Angeles, California. Zach started his career as a professional automotive sculptor with an Industrial Design degree in Transportation Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. After nearly a decade in the automotive design industry, he left his clay tools behind to focus his efforts full time on Fluxco Design. Since then, Zach has carried forth his skills in surfacing and volume experimentation in the automotive world to furniture with an unmatched attention to detail so that no screw, joinery, or tie go unnoticed.

Zach now resides in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife, two beautiful children, and shaggy dog.  When he's not covered in sawdust and metal grindings, you're likely to find him tinkering on old cars or inspiring his children to create and build with their hands.
